Ask first whether chauffeurs are employed or sub-contracted. Sub-contracting is common and it is where duty-of-care assurance breaks down: you cannot audit vetting on a driver the operator has never met.
Ask for passenger-level and cost-centre reporting as standard, not as an extra. If the operator cannot show you a sample report before you sign, they cannot produce it afterwards either.
Check the terms on amendment and cancellation. Roadshows move constantly, and an account that charges for every change becomes expensive very quickly.
Finally, confirm the escalation path. A named contact on a 24/7 desk is worth more than a discount, on the one night a year that something goes wrong.
